Clarke, John—Originally of Wirt & Clarke of near Richmond, Va. Cannon founders to the U. S. Secured the following contracts;

March 15, 1815, 12, 18, 24, 32, 42-pounder carronades, from $58.75 to $200.00 each.

August 15, 1818, 100 p-pounders at $60.00; 60 24-pounders (howitzers) at $75.00.

The subsequent contracts were secured by Clark wrho had evidently taken over the firm.

uly 11, 1825, 83 24-pounder iron cannon, uly 30, 1827, 60 24-pounder iron cannon. VTay 14, 1828, 60 32-pounder iron cannon.

March 16, 1829, 70 32-poundcr iron cannon.

July 1, 1830, 64 32-pounder iron cannon.

April 13, 1831, 48 32-pounder iron cannon.

all of the above were contracted for at $5-94 per cwt.
