Wear Safety Glasses In Case You Lose Control Of One Of The Springloaded Components Which Could Cause Eye Injury

Note: Force is unnecessary and should never be used when stripping or assembling the pistol.

STRIPPING FOR CLEANING

1. Make sure your pistol is unloaded and Instructions, pages 5 to 8.

2. With muzzle pointed upward, rest your pistol on its "grip safety" and heal of butt on a table or bench.

3. Press down on the recoil spring plug {just below the muzzle) and at the same time turn the barrel bushing clockwise about a quarter of a turn (see illustration at right). This frees plug and recoil spring. Keeping pressure on the plug to prevent it from being ejected by the spring, allow the plug and spring to gradually slip out of the slide. (As illustrated.)

4. Turn the plug counterclockwise on the spring to fully remove the plug from the spring.

5. Cock the hammer by pulling fully back on the hammer spur.

6. Pull the slide to the rear until the lug on the Slide Stop is opposite Disassembly Notch (see Illustration 8). Push rounded end of the pin of the Slide Stop (on right hand side of receiver) inward and through the receiver to disengage the slide stop from the slide.
