Caution

Do not clean bearings in solvent or allow solvent to run into bearings. Solvent will remain in bearing and dissolve lubricant, resulting in excessive wear or damage to bearing.

1. CLEAN AUTO GUN RECEIVER GEARS.

a. Using brush and dry cleaning solvent, clean spur gear cluster (1), bevel gear (2), spur assembly gear (3), shouldered drive sprocket shaft (4), and mechanical housing (5).

b. Wipe new annular ball bearings (6) and (7) and new needle roller bearing (8) with clean, dry wiping rag.

2. CLEAN CLUTCH ASSEMBLY.

Wipe clutch assembly (9) with clean, dry wiping rag.

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT AUTO GUN RECEIVER GEARS.

a. Visually inspect spur gear cluster (1), bevel gear (2), bevel gear (3), spur assembly gear (4), and shouldered drive sprocket shaft (5) for chipping, breaks, cracks, galls, and broken teeth. If any of these conditions are found, replace defective part.

b. Check movement of annular ball bearings (6) and (7) and needle roller bearing (8) for binding and roughness. If either of these conditions are found, replace defective part.
