Caution

Do not overtighten screw or wiring harness will split. Pins on connectors are fragile. Take care not to damage pins. 4. CONNECT WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR J2.

a. Place automatic gun feeder (7) with feeder handle (15) on bottom.

b. Connect wiring harness connector J2 (16) to cable connector (17).

c. Install screw (18) on wiring harness connector J2 (16). Torque screw to 36 in.-oz ± 4 in.-oz (0.254 N-m ± 0.028 N-m).

5. INSTALL ACCESS COVER.

a. Remove two capscrews (19) that were temporarily installed into index drive cover assembly (20).

INSTALLATION - Continued b. Align access cover (21) with automatic gun feeder (7) so wiring harness fits into the cutout (22).

c. Loosely install seven capscrews (19) into access cover (21).

d. Position automatic gun feeder (7) on side as shown.

e. Trip automatic gun feeder (7) out of sear position by pressing rod (23) in and turning worm shaft nut (24) counterclockwise until arrow points between the two "E"s in the word "FEED".

f. Tighten two opposing capscrews (19).

g. Rotate worm shaft nut (24) counterclockwise until automatic gun feeder (7) locks in sear position. Trip automatic gun feeder (7) out of sear position by pressing in rod (23) and turning worm shaft nut (24) counterclockwise through three complete feed cycles. Feel for binding as worm shaft nut (24) is turned.

h. If no binding is found, proceed to step k.

INSTALLATION - Continued i. If binding occurs, loosen two capscrews (19) 1/4 to 1/2 turn and slightly shift the position of the access cover (21).

j. Trip automatic gun feeder (7) out of sear. Turn the worm shaft nut (24) counterclockwise through one cycle and stop in sear. Repeat steps e through h, as required, until the binding has either been removed or reduced as much as possible.

k. Position automatic gun feeder (7) with feeder handle (15) down.
