Sear retractor pivot should only be removed if cracked or bent. d. Remove sear retractor pivot (5) from auto gun receiver (1).
1. INSPECT COVER ASSEMBLY.
a. Visually inspect both sides of cover assembly for cracks, breaks, and bends. If any of these conditions are found, replace cover assembly.
b. Check cover assembly for proper spring height. Height from tip of flat spring to cover should be 27/64 in. ± 1/16 in. (10.7 mm ± 1.6 mm). If measurement is not met, bend spring to proper height or replace cover assembly.
2. INSPECT SEAR RETRACTOR ASSEMBLY.
a. Visually inspect sear retractor assembly (1) for cracks, breaks, and bends. If any of these conditions are found, replace sear retractor assembly.
b. Visually inspect helical spring (2) for breaks and bends. If either of these conditions are found, replace helical spring.
c. Visually inspect sear retractor pivot (3) for cracks or stripped threads. If either of these conditions are found, replace sear retractor pivot.
d. Check helical spring (2) for a free length of 2 in. ± 1/8 in. (50.8 mm ± 3.2 mm). If helical spring is not proper length, replace helical spring.
Visually inspect auto gun receiver for loose or damaged screw threaded inserts. If either of these conditions are found, send auto gun receiver to Direct Support Maintenance for repair.
LUBRICATE HELICAL SPRING.
Using acid brush, apply light coat of grease to helical spring.
1. INSTALL SEAR RETRACTOR ASSEMBLY.
a. Apply sealing compound primer and one drop of adhesive to sear retractor pivot (1).
b. Install sear retractor pivot (1) in auto gun receiver (2).
