Note

Bevel gear and worm shaft bevel gear are parts of a serialized, matched set. Both gears must be replaced if either part is defective.

a. Visually inspect bevel gear (35) for galls, cracked or broken teeth, and broken or cracked lugs. If any of these conditions are found, replace bevel gear.

b. Visually inspect hub (36) for cracks or other physical damage. If either of these conditions are found, replace hub.

8. INSPECT PAWL-SHAFT ASSEMBLY, TIMER LEVER, AND ACCESS COVER.

a. Visually inspect pawl-shaft assembly (37), timer lever (38), and access cover (39) for broken, bent, or missing parts. If any of these conditions are found, replace defective part.

LUBRICATION

1. LUBRICATE WORM SHAFT ASSEMBLY COMPONENTS.

Apply a light coat of grease to worm shaft (1), bevel gear (2), worm shaft nut (3), rod (4), machine key (5), and ball bearing (6). Do not lubricate retaining ring (7).
