Use helper to turn gear for next step. i. Push in gear clutch tool handle (8) and hold in place.

j. Grasp gear end of spur gearshaft (5) and turn until lugs (6) are 90 degrees from gear clutch tool handle shaft (13).

k. Install spur gear (14) on spur gearshaft (5) until bottom of spur gear (14) is flush with top of gear clutch tool (1).

l. Hold spur gear (14) flush with gear clutch tool (1) and push up on gear end of spur gearshaft (5) until hole (15) in end of spur gearshaft (5) is above the spline on the spur gear (14).

m. Carefully lift gear clutch assembly (16) straight up out of gear clutch tool (1) and remove gear clutch tool (1) from vise.

n. Using vise jaw caps, place gear clutch assembly (16) in vise with spur gear (14) up. o. Install headless straight pin (17) into spur gearshaft (5).

p. Turn spur gear (14) with force until gear spur rollers snap into notches in wall of spur gear (14).

2. TORQUE TE ST GEAR CLUTCH ASSEMBLY.

a. Using vise jaw caps, place gear clutch assembly (16) in vise with spur gearshaft (5) up.

b. Place crowfoot on flats (18) and turn spur gearshaft (5) until spur gearshaft (5) begins to slip from detent position. Record torque reading and repeat torque test in opposite direction.

c. Check that clutch slips when a torque of 32 to 100 ft-lbs (43.4 to 135.6 N-m) is applied.

d. If torque measurement is not within tolerance, use crowfoot and breaker bar to rotate spur gearshaft past detent position at least ten times in both directions. Repeat step b.

e. If torque measurement is not met after performing step d., replace spur gear (14).

f. Remove gear clutch assembly from vise.

3. INSTALL GEAR CLUTCH ASSEMBLY (WP 0073 00).
