Some chipping and burring of track rails is normal.
a. Visually inspect bolt and carrier assembly (1) and track assembly (2) for cracked or broken parts. Check slider path (3) and track paths (4) for galls and burrs. If any of these conditions are found, repair or replace defective parts.
b. Inspect track rails (sliding surface) (5) of track assembly (2) for chips. Each track rail may exhibit chipping along the entire rail. If chipping crosses the top of the rail and exceeds 4.0 mm when measured along the outboard of the rail, the track assembly must be replaced.
NO MAX LENGTH FOR CHIPPING WHICH DOES
c. Ensure breech bolt is in the forward dwell position (uncocked) and check firing pin assembly protrusion. The firing pin tip (6) must extend between 0.059 in. (1.5 mm) and 0.098 in. (2.5 mm) past the bolt face (7). If the firing pin protrusion is incorrect, replace firing pin assembly.
