Note

Inspection for erosion is the same for all barrel configurations.

a. Push the sliding collar (9) forward on the bore erosion gage rod (10) until it meets the gage head (11).

b. Insert the gage into the barrel chamber.

c. Pushing forward on the sliding collar to steady the gage, gently push the bore erosion gage rod (10) through the sliding collar (9) until it stops.

d. The barrel erosion measurement is taken from the relative position of the sliding collar (9) to the rear (the end near you) of the 5/8 in. (1.59 cm) notch (12) on the bore erosion gage rod (10).

e. If the rear of the notch (12) is visible, the barrel is serviceable.

f. If the rear of the notch (12) is not visible, the barrel is unserviceable. Replace barrel.
