Warning

Wear eye protection when removing springs or using striking instruments. You can be blinded if springs or flying chips hit you in the eye.

3. REMOVE SPRING PIN.

a. Position auto gun receiver (1) with mechanical housing (5) on top. Place a flat wooden block under auto gun receiver (1) below mechanical housing (5).

b. Tap spring pin (6) out of auto gun receiver (1). Discard spring pin.

4. REMOVE HANDLE PIN.

a. Push handle pin (4) from auto gun receiver (1).

b. Remove helical spring (7) from handle pin (4).

INSPECTION

INSPECT HANDLE PIN.

a. Visually inspect handle pin (1) for cracks, bends, galls, and stripped threads. If any of these conditions are found, replace handle pin.

b. Visually inspect setscrew (2) for cracks and stripped threads. If either of these conditions are found, replace setscrew.

c. Visually inspect helical spring (3) for bends and breaks. If either of these conditions are found, replace helical spring.

d. Check helical spring (3) for minimum length of 1-1/2 in. (38.1 mm). If measurement is not met, replace helical spring.

LUBRICATION

LUBRICATE HANDLE PIN ASSEMBLY.

Using acid brush, apply light coat of grease to external surfaces of handle pin (1) and to helical spring (2).

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL HANDLE PIN.

a. Position auto gun receiver (1) with bolt and track assembly (2) on top.

b. Insert open end of handle pin (3) in auto gun receiver (1) from direction shown. Align slot (4) in handle pin (3) with pin hole (5) in top of auto gun receiver (1).

c. Push handle pin (3) into auto gun receiver (1) until it is flush on both ends.
