Warning

Dry cleaning solvent (SD) is flammable and toxic. Use in well-ventilated area away from an open flame or a smoking area. This solvent evaporates quickly and has a drying effect on the skin. It may cause cracks in the skin and, in some cases, mild irritation or inflammation. If solvent comes in contact with eyes or skin, flush with water.

CLEAN REAR PLATE ASSEMBLY AND FEED PLATE ASSEMBLY PARTS.

Using brush and dry cleaning solvent, clean rear feed plate (1), cartridge stops (2), rear gate assembly (3), and helical spring (4).

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT FLANGED SLEEVE BUSHINGS, CARTRIDGE STOPS, AND REAR GATE ASSEMBLY.

Visually inspect new flanged sleeve bushings (1), cartridge stops (2), and rear gate assembly (3) for cracks, chips, galls, and burrs. If any of these conditions are found, replace defective part.

2. INSPECT REAR FEED PLATE.

a. Visually inspect rear feed plate (4) for cracks, chips, or breaks. If any of these conditions are found, replace rear feed plate.

b. Visually inspect helical spring (5) for bent or broken coil and check for free length of 1-1/32 in. ± 1/16 in. (26.20 mm ± 1.6 mm). If any defects are found, replace helical spring.

c. Visually inspect rear feed plate (4) for loose or missing rivets. If either of these conditions are found, replace rivets. If replaced, rivets must be installed wet using zinc chromate primer.

d. Visually inspect angle brackets (6) for cracks, bends, and deformation. If any of these conditions are found, replace defective angle bracket. If angle brackets are replaced, rivets must be installed wet using zinc chromate primer.

e. Visually inspect rear feed plate (4) for loose or damaged screw threaded inserts. If either of these conditions are found, go to WP 0081 00 and perform repair procedures.

f. Visually inspect rear feed plate feed path (7) for cracks or breaks. If either of these conditions are found, replace rear feed plate.
