lant granules. These small pieces of propellant were very easily ignited when exposed to sparks of flame.
The performance and the physical condition of the round were most adversely affect by the 10-day humidity conditioning environment. This indicates the need for the development of a better protective coating and wrapping. A high temperature conditioning environment was found to speed the ignition process of die round during firing while the cold temperature conditioning retarded the round ignition process.
The Hercules round performed with very litde blow-by and produced only small amounts of residue when fired from both the single-shot test fixture and the General Electric multi-shot gun.
