Supported Sitting

A supported sitting position may be used to fire over the top of cover when mobility is not as critical. A sitting position can be comfortably assumed for a longer period of time than a kneeling position and it can conform to higher cover when a prone position cannot be used.

i Support the position by placing the handguards, the forearm, or the magazine on or against support (see fig. 6-27).

i If the rifle is resting on support, the Marine may not need to stabilize the weapon by placing his left or right elbows on his legs (see fig. 6-28).
