Firearms Training Unit FBI Academy, Building 9 Quantico, VA 22135
The FBI's two Observer/Sniper Courses, each a week in length, are open only to bona fide law officers, with priority given to FBI students and those from other federal agencies. Due to their co-locations, there's considerable cross-fertilization between the FBI courses, the FBI Hostage Rescue Team (HRT), and the Marine Corps Scout Sniper Instructor School. The FBI school has a reputation for incorporating cutting-edge tactics, procedures, and gear into its curriculum.
Operated by a civilian contractor, Wackenhut Services, Inc., the Central Training Academy's program is oriented toward tactical team operations, with priority to Department of Energy security students, although any bona fide police officer may apply. Dates and course lengths vary, but typically this is a two-week course, taught at least annually.
