LEDs are virtually indestructible, have longer runtimes than incandescents, and can last for thousands of hours. Incandescent lamps are generally capable of higher light outputs and are great for reaching out into the darkness with a tightly focused beam. So what would happen if a long-running LED flashlight mated with a powerful incandescent flashlight?
Nothing—flashlights are inanimate objects incapable of mating.
But SureFire engineers prevailed where nature fell short when they created the A2 Aviator, the world's first hybrid LED/incandescent illumination tool. And judging by the fact that the hybrid Aviator is the everyday-carry choice of John Matthews, SureFire's founder and president, a man who can carry any SureFire model he wants, we'd say engineering did a pretty good job on the merger.
